Free solar... what's the catch?

Nothing. On the SOLAR+50 plan, to avoid the upfront costs of solar you have the option of arranging green financing. You still pay for the solar, but it is paid off over a period of time. For our corporate partners, we offer the BLENDED HENRY plan, where we pay for the solar to be installed on your roof. Over a 7-15 year term, you pay for the electricity you use, which we use to cover the costs of that solar system. We can do this, as we need to buy our electricity from somewhere. We did the sums and we realised that if you stay with us for at least seven years, it is cheaper for you and us for us to put the solar on your roof for you.

Do I need to cancel my current electricity provider?

No, we’ll do this for you. All you need to do is sign up to the plan you’re interested in and we’ll take care of the rest.

Are there any additional costs that I will have to pay?

No. Other than what is outlined in the plans document, you will only pay for the electricity you use.

How much will it cost me to get solar panels installed on my home?

It depends on the plan. On the SOLAR+50 you can either pay for the solar upfront, or you can arrange green financing to help you avoid the upfront costs. For our corporate partners, the BLENDED HENRY comes with no upfront costs.

Will solar energy provide 100% of my electricity?

No. We typically design the solar system to cover 80% of your winter energy needs. This then typically covers all your summer daytime needs. We have found this to be the most efficient design. With storage, you will be able to store energy to use overnight, but most households use enough energy overnight to exceed the capacity of any home sized battery. But, we’ll also be providing you with retail energy, so you’ll always have the energy when you need it (although under severe conditions – like storms or very hot periods – there may be brief interruptions to your power as the national energy grid manages energy flow across the system).

If I get solar installed by you am I eligible for any rebates from the Australian government if I switch to solar energy?

In some states and territories, when you install solar panels and batteries on your property, you can access rebates from the government. These are called small scale technology certificates and are typically offered as a point of sale discount by a solar installer. RADIAN ENERGY treats these certificates the same way which allows us to offer such competitive rates.

What plan is right for me?

Well, it's up to you. Check out our Plans page to help you work through your options.

What’s the quality of the equipment Radian uses?

Selling you equipment that stops working in 2-3 years isn’t good for you, us, or the planet. RADIAN ENERGY will only sell tier 1 equipment, backed by market leading warranties. We want to make sure the equipment lasts as long as possible.

What happens if my property gets damaged during installation?

When installing solar, just as in life, accidents can happen. RADIAN ENERGY uses an experienced and CEC qualified install team and we would rarely damage a customer’s property. However, if we do, we have comprehensive insurances to cover any mishap that might happen.

What happens if I move?

It depends on what 'move' is. If you just move out of your house and start renting the property to someone else, you may choose to keep your energy product and charge your tenant for the energy they use. It becomes another way for you to make money on your property. If you sell your property, you can either buy out the remaining contract or you can liaise with the person purchasing the property and see if they want to take it over. As always, we’ll be there to help you through all of it.

What if I want a different system or different equipment?

We work through and design the system with you. Sometimes this means changing the details of the product or the type of equipment we use. Ultimately we’re here to design the more efficient and productive system that works for you.
